Ninja Vanish began his life as a joke in the office of Groktek. The thought that a character named Ninja Vanish would make a good comic book is what inspired the idea. Slacker Comics, which holds the rights to Ninja Vanish, was also initialized as being the company that would publish all his adventures. The idea of Ninja Vanish is of a ninja who makes his way to America and tries to make a life there. Unfortunately, because he’s been a ninja all his life, he views the world as he would as a ninja would. In his mind, he often sense dangers that aren’t necessarily there, causing him to attack co-workers or customers and he ends up getting fired from every job.
Ninja Vanish, as he’s called in the office, started his journey on the popular social site my space. Within the first week, he had over 300 friends (not counting members of the Groktek Alliance) and it seemed people were wondering who this little guy was. The idea to expand on his background in a series of comics switched to posting blogs on myspace.com as he made his way from Japan to the US. Along the way, he meets up with various members of the International House of Geeks (IHOG) who use their skills on computers and the web to get the little guy information, as well as keeping him connected to his friends on My Space.
The concept of Ninja Vanish, while starting out as an office in-joke, began to take a life of its own especially after his introduction to the internet. The goal was to have a launch for Slacker Comics and NV was just what they were looking for. Incredibly cute and adventurous, the misadventures became a hit as the company try to come up with more ways in which NV can explore the culture of the United States.
Ninja Vanish was designed by Joel Yohn, He is currently written and voiced by Regina Woodard, who is also the writer and voice of the Overlord for International House of Geeks.
